Time Dependent CP Violation
The amount of CP violation observed in high-energy physics experiments is too small to account for the matter/antimatter imbalance in the universe. We expect new mechanisms to exist that could bring new sources of CP violation.
One way to search for these new mechanisms is through precision studies of the asymmetries between the decays of so-called meson particle and anti-particles,
vs
. The time-dependent CPV group at DESY focuses in particular on a type of CP violation that depends on the decay-time of the
.
We are also involved in the operation of the pixel detector (PXD) and the development and improvement of the vertexing and flavour-tagging algorithms.
