Joining the hunt of flavour

Tau Physics

The Belle II experiment is located at the SuperKEKB energy-asymmetric electron-positron collider and aims to collect the world’s largest sample of τ-pair events, 𝑒+𝑒− → 𝜏+𝜏−. The τ leptons are powerful tools to probe physics beyond the standard model. There are two approaches to this: one involves searching for indirect signs of non-standard model physics through high precision measurements of τ lepton properties and identifying tensions with standard model expectations, and the other involves direct searches of charged lepton flavour and number-violating τ decays. At DESY we are pursuing both approaches, see our Belle II Publications.
